Merry Christmas!!! How I Spent My Christmas...
Thursday was Christmas, and for a lot of people, it means spending time with your family. My family and I are one of those people. My family went to jersey to my cousin’s house to spend time with the rest of the family. It’s a tradition that we do every year since me and my cousins were babies. My cousin cooks dinner for us, well everyone gambles and has fun. I think that Christmas is an important time for people to spend time together, if it’s their family, friends, loved ones, etc. It’s just a time when everyone can distress and enjoy time spent with people they love. The presents giving part is also fun, but mostly focused more on children, since it is the children who mostly receive presents. Christmas is a day where you don’t need to work about your job or anything else; it’s that day when you can just live in the moment. Of course, there are three different types of Christmas, the Christmas spent with family, friends, loved ones, etc. (which is the Christmas I had, and which a lot of Americans have), the religious Christmas, where people focus on the religious aspect behind Christmas (which isn’t that popular in America anymore considering that we have people of so many different backgrounds and religions), and finally, the Hallmark Christmas, where people buy presents for each other and give Christmas cards (this is the one Americans mostly celebrate, in combination with a family Christmas.) People like to combine the hallmark Christmas and the family Christmas together. All together, my Christmas was a lot of fun, as it was time spent with my family. I hope that everyone had a merry Christmas, and happy holidays everyone!

Thoughts On The Wal-Mart Stampede
I think that what happened in the Wal-Mart Stampede is ridiculous and entirely Wal-Mart’s fault. An employee died because they did not have enough security to hold back the mob of shoppers. Wal-Mart should know by now which security measures they need to take, considering the fact that Black Friday has been around for a long time. If this was a first time thing, I would understand, but it’s the most famous day for sales, and Wal-Mart should know this by now. The Wal-Mart in Long Island should definitely be sued by the victim’s family, considering their son/husband/family member died because of Wal-Mart. I agree with people saying that the mob is also to blame for the employee’s death, however I don’t think the police can arrest anyone, considering it was a bunch of people’s doing, and not just one or two. The whole mob ran over the employee, not just a couple of people. To blame some people and not the whole group would be ridiculous, and besides, how would you know who to blame? The people in the back of the line shoved the people in the middle, which in turn, shoved the people in the front, so everyone was getting shoved. The whole group of people should all feel guilty though, even if they aren’t going to get arrested for it. In the back of their minds, they should be realizing that they killed a guy in order to save money on a product sold by Wal-Mart.
I also think that the security measures Wal-Mart took were not enough. They made the employees stand in a human chain to block the oncoming mob, which was stupid on their part considering the two thousand people could easily break the human chain. By making the employees form a human chain, they were putting their employees’ lives in danger. Several employees had to jump on top of vending machines to make sure they were not going to be hurt by the oncoming mob. That’s ridiculous, and Wal-Mart needs to take better precautions next time..

Thoughts About Thanksgiving/Black Friday
On Thanksgiving, I went to New Jersey to spend time with my family. There was a lot of food on the table (although the turkey was not the best), and it was fun to spend time with my family. Thanksgiving is a time when people can spend time with their family, and be thankful for everything that they have. It’s a time for people to give back to their community, and have to not worry about anything for a day. I was watching the news, and saw that people were at shelters volunteering their time on Thanksgiving to give food to the poor and/or needy people. I thought that was very nice of them, considering the fact that they are giving up their own time to help others. That’s one way people give back to their community, and they showed that they do not take what they have for granted.
On Black Friday, I went shopping like most people in America. However, unlike most people who woke up early to go shopping, or lined up outside of stores from Thursday night, I went shopping in the afternoon, and found it much easier. There were still a lot of sales, and I was able to buy new clothes without fighting with people over them. The checkout lines were not as long as I predicted they would be, and the sales workers moved quickly. I felt bad for the sales workers though, considering the fact that they had to wake up early in the morning and start working. I heard one employee at Macy’s saying to another “I have been here since four A.M, and I’m ready to go.” I felt bad for them, and wondered what would make them want to work so early in the morning, on one of the busiest shopping days of the year? Were they getting paid more than they would to work on a regular day? Considering the fact that Black Friday follows right after Thanksgiving, I was amazed that the employees could wake up and work on little or no sleep. I personally like black Friday, as it is a day where a lot of stores have huge sales and it’s the time to start buying Christmas presents for people. I think that people who think we should not shop on Black Friday should not complain to other people who do, or make fun of them. Everyone has their own views about Black Friday, and some people like lining up hours before the stores open to make sure they get the best deals. However, I think stores should take security measures to make sure nobody gets hurt, as shown in the Walmart Stampede.
